I love it when we find something we can do that will suit the full range of ages and abilities – something you can realistically do with younger children, teens, the grandparents and everyone in between. Enter, Jurassic Footgolf! OK, so I got beaten mercilessly by both my kids AND the grandparents but I’ll let it slide as we had a good time in the process.

Combining the best of golf and football, Footgolf is a game that can be played by all the family with no experience (or talent) needed. Just a set of trainers or boots (no studs allowed). Turn up to the course on the outskirts of the coastal town of Lyme Regis – no booking required – and play a round on the 9-hole course. Players take turns to kick their football into the hole (like golf, but bigger), taking note of the number of kicks it took you to score on the scorecard as you go. The winner is the one who made the fewest kicks overall.

It took about an hour to get around all nine holes as a group of five at a leisurely pace, then we sat at one of the picnic benches and had a snack from the tuck shop while we totted up scores.

If it’s really chucking it down with rain, the course won’t open, but they usually stay open in a bit of drizzle.

The ground is suitable for pushchairs. Chocolate bars, crisps, cake bars and canned drinks are available in the reception hut. Free parking.

Great fun vibe, family business, highly recommend!
